En ny 20-talsklänning/ A new 1920s dress

Igår och lite idag (halsringningen) sydde jag en ny 20-talsklänning efter Nadezhda Lamanovas mönster. Det tog ungefär 2,5 timmar, inklusive handfållning, och det tycker jag är okej.

Yesterday, and a little today (the neck) I sewed a new 1920s dress after Nadezhda Lamanova's pattern. It took abou 2,5 hours, including hand hemming and I think that's okay.

Ute/ Out of doors

För första gången på nästan tre veckor lämnade jag lägenheten för en kort sväng till jobbet, samt närmaste Netto för att öka på min samling av solcellslyktor till balkongen.

For the first time for almost three weeks I left the flat to walk to the university to check some stuff and then to the local Netto store (a cheap food chain which also has some other stuff, quite often yarn) to buy more solar cell lights to my balcony.

Jag har gjort allt själv: jacka, kjol och hatt. Eller, hatten var en trist väldigt vanlig hatt som jag köpte på loppis innan jag gjorde om den.

I've made it all myself: jacket, skirt and hat. Or, I remade the hat, which was a boring hat I bought at a flea market before I remade it.

Hatten blöttes ner och placerades på en plastbunke med en keramiksskål på. Jag knöt också ett band runt hatten frö att hålla den mot bunken. Brättet klippte jag bort kanten på och drog sedan en rynktråd igenom för att forma det.

I soaked the hat and placed it on a plastic bowl with a heavy ceramic bowl on top of it. I also tied a ribbon around the hat to keep it tight to the plastic bowl. I also cut the edge from the brim and sewed a gathering thread to shape it.

Jga kantade brättet med sidentaft, som jag också använde till rosetten. Jag kunde inte få tag i grönt nät med prickar så jag broderade prickar på grön tyll med moulinegarn.

I edged the brim with silk taffeta, which also was used for the  bow. Since I couldn't get green spotted net I embroidered the net myself with cotton floss.

Hippietant/ Old hippie lady

Alla som har känt mig mer än något decennium vet att jag har en faibless för hippiestilen. Inte alltid, nu har jag ju t ex kört en slags retro 40-talsinspirerad stil sen 2007-2008, men efter ett tag kommer den inre hippien alltid tillbaka.
Och jag tror att det är dags nu - i söndags beställde jag och bästisen Inger klänningar från Holy Clothing (jodu!) i Indien och för typ en halvtimme sen ringde DHL på dörren. Klänningen var lite mörkare än jag hade trott, men åh så fin!

Everone who's known me for more than a decade knows that I have a faiblesse for hippie clothing. Not always; for instance I've had this retro 1940s style since 2007-2008, but it always returns.
And I think it has retunred now - in Sunday I and my best friend Inger ordered dresses from Holy Clothing (yes, indeed) in India and half an hour ago DHL rang on the door. The dress was a littel darker than I thought that it would be, but oh so pretty.

Livet/life

Ja, livet det springer iväg. Jag har pysslat en del med bloggen som ersätter min dräkthemsida (man kan gilla den på facebook också om man verkligen inte vill missa något). Men mest har jag ägnat mig åt att ha influensa och sen aldrig bli frisk -  är inne på tredje veckan nu. Och det är så trist. Inte nog med att jag har feber och hostar, man blir ju deprimerad av att vara sjuk veckovis.

Jag läst om Cirkel-triologin (var och såg filmen innan jag blev sjuk) och är nu på god väg igenom samtliga Crimes of fashion-böckerna, som jag också läser om. Och jag har tittat lite på Dr Who, men jag orkar oftast inte se hela avsnitt.

Och det är ungefär allt som jag har gjort, utom stoppat ett hål i en strumpa och stickat lite på en sjal. Jo, jag har också skaffat terminalglasögon, innan jag blev sjuk.

Life keeps moving fast. I have done some work on the blog that replaces my costume web page (you can like it on facebook if you really don't want to miss anything). But mostly I have been busy with having the flu and never getting well - I'm on my third week now. And it is so boring. Not only do I have a temperature and cought a lot, you get depressed from being ill for weeks in a row.

I have re-read the Engelsfors triology ( I went to see the movie before I got ill) and is now more than halfway through all the Crimes of fashion books, also re-reading. And I've watched som Dr Who, though I have generally not been well enough to watch entire episodes.

That's about it, except that I have mended a hole in a sock and knitted a little on a shawl. Oh, and I got glasses to wear while sitting by the computer before I got sick too.

Fortsätter med fantasyinredning/ Carrying on with the fantasy inspired stuff

Igår kom ett paket med lite möbler som jag hade beställt från Skala Minimal. Okej, ganska många möbler, närmre bestämt två skrivbord (olika modell), en byrå, ett klädskåp och ett matbord med fyra stolar. Hittills har jag hunnit sandpappra och måla två av dem. Men då hade skrivbordet en jämras massa lådor.

Yesterday a box of furniture that I had ordered from Skala Minimal arrived. Two desks (different models), a chest of drawers, a wardrobe and a table with four chairs. This far I have sanded and painted two of them, but then there was a lot of drawers in that desk.

Sen målade jag klädskåpet till mitt och Rickards sovrum. Både skrivborden och skåpet hade jag beställt utan att ha bestämma var de skulle vara, så fick Maja bestämma vilket som hon ville ha. Hon valde ett av skrivborden som hon ska måla sen, men ville inte ha ett så utsirat klädskåp som det som jag hade beställt. Möjligen får jag göra ett helt slätt till henne.

Then I painted the wardrobe for mine and Rickard's bedroom. I had ordered both the desks and the wardrobe without having decided which room to put them in, so Maja got to choose if she wanted nay of them. She picked on desk, which she's going to paint later, but didn't want the wardrobe. She wants a plain one, so I may have to make that myself.

Här är skåpet nästan färdigt. Jag har just lagt på lim för slagmetall. Jag skyller allt på min vän Josefin som har lagt slagmetall på en dörr i sitt hus i skala 1:1.

The cupboard is almost finished, I have just put on glue for "gold" leaf. I blame my friend Josefin, who put gold leaf on a door in her house in 1:1 scale.

Som ni ser fortsätter jag med fantasytemat i sovrummet. Det måste man nästan göra med en sån säng.

As you see I am continuing with the fantasy theme for our bedroom. It really isn't much else you can do with a bed like that.

Sängkläder och sängar/ beds and bedding

Jag har nu fixat lakan, påslakan, kuddar och madrasser till de rum som ska tillhöra dockversionen av mina stora flickor Valeria och Vendela.
Vendelas rum har just nu två sängar, eftersom jag hade glömt att jag hade bjudit på en på Tradera och gjorde en av plywood, list och blompinnar. Vi få se vilken som blir kvar.

I've made sheets, duveys, pillows and matresses for the rooms where the doll versions of my eldest daughters Valeria and Vendela are going to live. 
Vendela's room currently has two beds, because I had forgotten that I had bid on an auction for a dollhouse bed and made one from plywood, wood strips and dowels. We'll see which one will stay eventually.

Varde ljus! / Let there be light

Tack vare kampanjer på batterilampor på Minimum world har nu alla rum i mitt och Majas dockskåp fått lampor.

Thanks to campaigns at Minimum World on battery lights there are now lights in all the rooms in mine and Maja's dollhouse.
