The theme for challenge nr 17 was "yellow" and I had lots of trouble coming up with something that I wanted to make - I didn't have any yellow fabric and I didn't want to buy any. On the thirteenth (the challenge was due on the 15th) I found an image of a 16th century child's mitten on the Internet. It'd from Mueum of London and it's undeniably yellow.
I didn't have any yellow yarn, but my friend and enighbour Anna gave me a soft yellow yarn; soft enough for Maja to accept it - she otherwise complains that all wool yarns itch.
Of course I didn't have any pattern, but I improvised one with some glances on a mitten pattern in a book (with a totally different size yarn and needles) and ended up with something that worked. They whould have been longer, but since I wasn't sure how much yarn they would take I settled fro slightly shorter cuffs. As yu can see there isn't any ribbing, because they hadn't started with that in the 16th century.
